Italian steel production saw a modest increase in February 2025, with crude steel output totaling 1.813 million metric tons. This represents a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.8%, following a positive trend in January. The total crude steel output for the first two months of 2025 reached 3.503 million metric tons, reflecting a 1.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The production of long products in February declined by 6.0% year-on-year, amounting to 1.1 million metric tons. In contrast, flat steel output rose by 14.3% year-on-year, reaching 785,000 metric tons. Over the January-February period, long product output decreased by 2.3%, while flat steel production increased by 6.1%.
