Italian heavy plate prices are on the rise, driven by a resurgence in domestic demand and producers’ efforts to restore margins. Despite some signs of increased market activity, distributor sources report that downstream activity remains weak. Producers are requesting a €30/tonne increase for December deliveries, with plans to raise prices further for January and February.
Current quotes for domestic S275 grade plate are at €650/t ex-works, while S355 is priced at €680-690/t. This price adjustment comes as large customers have yet to resume significant purchasing, having recently acquired substantial quantities from the import market.
