The Italian government has reached a technical consensus on the Piombino coil mill programme agreement, marking a significant step in the development of the Metinvest-Danieli flat steel mill. The agreement outlines key aspects such as industrial planning, environmental initiatives, energy procurement, and state support.
The mill is expected to produce approximately 2.7 million tonnes of coils annually, with a total investment of €2.5 billion, including €324 million in state subsidies. Authorities emphasize that the project integrates public and private interests, aiming to strengthen Italy’s steel sector while ensuring sustainability.
