Indonesia's PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP) has unveiled its decarbonization strategy aimed at becoming one of Asia's leading sustainable steelmakers. The company plans to invest in advanced steelmaking technologies, including a side-feeding system for its electric arc furnace (EAF) to reduce energy consumption by 10-20%. Additionally, GRP will implement thin slab casting technology and new rolling machines to produce low-carbon steel. To ensure a steady supply of scrap, GRP will establish long-term supply agreements and enhance its scrap yard capabilities. The initiative aligns with the growing demand for low-carbon steel in sectors crucial to the global energy transition.
