India’s iron ore output reached an all-time high of 289 million mt in the fiscal year 2024-25, reflecting a 4.3% year-on-year increase, according to data released by the Ministry of Mines on May 5. This surpasses the previous record set in 2023-24.
The ministry also reported that manganese production in India rose by 3.4% year-on-year to 3.8 million mt in 2024-25.
The surge in iron ore production has been attributed to growing demand, stable policies, and enhanced operational capacity within the sector.
