Indian demand for imported scrap has cooled down as the fiscal year approaches its end on March 31. Despite this slowdown, offers for imported scrap remain firm, with UK/European shredded scrap priced at $380-385/tonne cfr Nhava Sheva. However, bids are lower by $5-7/tonne. Domestic scrap prices in Europe have risen due to shortages, limiting price reductions for Indian buyers. Meanwhile, Indian rebar prices have increased, but trading activity has eased. Demand for imported scrap is expected to improve in April as buyers prepare for the monsoon season.
