India is holding an inter-ministerial consultation to prepare an "offer list" for upgrading the India-South Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), a free trade agreement between the two countries.
The consultation is being held with ministries including steel, heavy industries, chemicals, and finance to prepare the offer list to be exchanged with South Korea during the CEPA upgrade negotiations.
India has sought greater market access in South Korea for products like steel, rice, and shrimp to boost its exports, while also raising concerns that South Korean firms are not buying enough Indian steel.
The CEPA upgrade will address issues such as implementation, rules of origin, customs procedures, further trade liberalization, and data sharing between the two countries.
