Huta Czestochowa, a Polish plate mill, has started the cold recommissioning process under its new lessee, Weglokoks, a state-owned coal exporter and steel re-roller. After being idle for over a year, the plant’s equipment required significant attention, but workers managed to commence operations on schedule.
The recommissioning allows Weglokoks to evaluate the plant’s condition and investment needs. The company sees potential in modernizing Huta Czestochowa and is already in discussions with Poland’s defense ministry and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) about supplying plate from the plant. This move could strengthen Weglokoks’ position in the market, especially in the current uncertain geopolitical climate.
