US-based High Power Exploration (HPX) has successfully acquired the St. John River iron ore licenses in Liberia, marking a significant expansion of its operations in West Africa. This acquisition, which has received official approval from the Liberian government, positions HPX to leverage Liberia's rich mineral resources. The St. John River licenses, previously owned by BHP, cover nearly 250 square kilometers and are strategically located near the Yekapa-Buchanan Rail Corridor.
Historical studies suggest that these licenses may contain an estimated 650 million tonnes of iron ore with iron content up to 58%. HPX plans to implement an active exploration program to advance these projects, aiming to contribute to the growth of Liberia's mining sector while enhancing its own operational footprint in the region.
