Chinese steelmaker HBIS Group is advancing its green transformation by implementing low-carbon technologies and focusing on hydrogen energy solutions. Chairman Yu Yong announced that the company has launched a continuous casting line for automotive sheet steel utilizing hydrogen metallurgy, with a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year, marking a world first. This follows the commissioning of a hydrogen metallurgy demonstration project two years ago. HBIS aims to enhance its hydrogen steel industry chain and reduce carbon emissions in line with China's targets for peak emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
