The Goa government has initiated the auction of 18 idle iron ore dumps, totaling approximately 30 million metric tons of low-grade ore, with iron content ranging from 45% to 51%. This move follows a revision of the e-auction policy aimed at unclaimed dumps on private land that lack paid conversion charges. Successful bidders will be allowed to export the ore. The Supreme Court had previously authorized mining activities at these dumps, leading to the establishment of a "Dump Handling Policy" that targets the management and export of up to 25 million tons annually from an estimated 700 million tons of low-grade ore.
