Global iron ore exports increased by 5% year-on-year from January to September 2024. Australia led the exports with 427 million tons, marking a 2% rise. Brazil followed with a 6% increase, exporting 181 million tons.
Other notable exporters included South Africa, Canada, India, and Ukraine, each showing significant growth. China remained the largest importer, with a 6% increase in iron ore imports. Despite the overall growth, the market faces potential challenges due to high port stocks and plans to limit steel production in China.
