In June 2024, Germany’s steel production saw an 8.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 3.19 million tons. This production level remained consistent with May’s output. According to the German Steel Association WV Stahl, steel production in converters rose by 4.1% year-on-year and 2.7% month-on-month to 2.17 million tons. Electric arc furnaces produced 1.01 million tons of steel, marking a 20.8% annual increase and a 6.3% monthly rise.
However, cast iron production decreased by 1% month-on-month, despite a 4.4% annual increase, totaling 2.01 million tons. Rolled metal production in Germany amounted to 2.77 million tons, up 6.7% annually and 4.5% monthly. From January to June 2024, Germany’s steel production increased by 4.5% annually to 19.36 million tons. During this period, production in converters rose by 2.7% to 13.47 million tons, while electric arc furnace production increased by 8.7% to 5.88 million tons.
