Base prices for rebar in Germany and Austria remain under pressure, with current levels around €380 per tonne. Although mills had aimed for €420, most buyers report that few transactions occurred above €400. In Bavaria and Austria, deals have been struck as low as €360, and some downstream processors suggest that €350 would be a more realistic level to remain competitive in construction tenders.
Italian influence on pricing appears limited. While domestic Italian rebar is priced about €100 lower, offers to southern Germany are only €10 below local quotes. This suggests Italian mills prefer selling to other markets where they can secure better margins.
German mills have attempted to raise prices by €20–30, but buyers remain skeptical. Most expect price stabilization at best, with no significant upswing likely before the end of summer.
