German monthly steel sales saw a significant rebound in January, reaching 814,862 metric tons. This marks a 76.3% increase from December, despite being down 0.9% year over year. The surge was primarily driven by flat steel product sales, which rose 80.8% from December to 508,120 metric tons.
Long product sales also increased by 67.6% month over month, reaching 228,249 metric tons. Despite the monthly gains, flat steel sales were still 5.1% lower year over year. The market remains optimistic, with stable fundamentals and bullish factors such as recent news surrounding US tariffs and upcoming elections in Germany.
