Evraz Boosts Pig Iron Production with State-of-the-Art Casting Technology

In a significant advancement for the steel industry, Evraz Group has embarked on a project that promises to enhance pig iron production capacity through technological innovation. The company's subsidiary, Evraz ZSMK, has initiated the construction of a new pig iron casting complex, representing an investment exceeding RUB 3 billion (approximately $33.90 million). This strategic move is set to install two cutting-edge casting machines equipped with environmentally friendly technologies within the blast furnace shop of the plant.

The implementation of these machines is projected to elevate the plant's pig iron production to an annual output of 800,000-850,000 metric tons. Complementing this upgrade, Evraz ZSMK plans to erect a new building to accommodate the casting machines and a lime preparation area, further solidifying the complex's infrastructure.

A key aspect of this development is the incorporation of an aspiration system and a closed circulation system designed to mitigate emissions and prevent wastewater leakage, aligning with contemporary environmental standards. The launch of the new complex is not only expected to bolster the production of commercial pig iron but also to ensure the stable operation of blast furnaces during scheduled maintenance within the steelmaking production.

The project, which is anticipated to generate approximately 40 new jobs, stands as a testament to Evraz's commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and economic growth.
