European hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices declined further on June 26, driven by sluggish demand, seasonal factors, falling iron ore prices, and aggressive import competition.
In Northern Europe, the daily HRC index dropped to €566.25 per tonne ex-works, down from €573.75 the previous day. Workable prices ranged from €550 to €570, with sellers noting that €580 was no longer achievable.
Italy’s market also weakened. No confirmed sales were reported, but small lots were available at €540 and above, while larger volumes were discussed at €530–540 per tonne ex-works. The Italian index fell to €540.63 per tonne.
Import offers remained highly competitive:
- Indonesia: €470–480 per tonne ex-works for August shipment
- Turkey: €525–530 per tonne CFR duty paid for small lots; €500–510 for large volumes
- Vietnam and Thailand: €510–515 per tonne CFR Italy
