The European hot-rolled coil (HRC) market began the week quietly, with prices remaining largely unchanged. The holiday season has led to reduced activity, as many market participants are currently out. While some mills are attempting to test the market by increasing prices, skepticism remains due to low consumer interest. Market sources indicate that demand is still low, and mills are struggling to find orders. As long as consumption does not pick up, prices are expected to remain stable. On July 15, Platts assessed Northwest European HRC at €625 per tonne ex-works Ruhr, and Southern European HRC at the same price ex-works Italy. The carbon-accounted premium for HRC in Europe was assessed at €120 per tonne, down €5 per tonne from the previous day.
