European heavy plate prices declined in the week to June 20 as mills struggled to fill order books amid sluggish demand. Italian re-rollers traded plate at €590–610 per tonne ex-works, down about €10 week-on-week. Offers for July delivery remained available, but buyers showed limited interest.
In Northwest Europe, prices also slipped. A deal for S235JR plate was heard at €650 per tonne delivered in Germany, while S355JR offers hovered around €700 delivered. Some mills offered S235JR at €670–680 ex-works, and Italian re-rollers quoted €660 delivered into Germany.
Import pressure was minimal, though slab offers from China and Indonesia were reported at $500 and $480 per tonne CFR Italy, respectively. However, the Indonesian material was deemed unsuitable for heavy plate rolling.
