Prices for hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) coil across Europe have increased due to higher offers from producers. The European Commission's new safeguard measures have limited interest in imported materials, prompting buyers to rely on domestic mills. This shift has strengthened the position of European producers, enabling them to push for price hikes.
Recent offers for HDG in Northern Europe have reached €820 per tonne ex-works, while Southern Europe has seen similar levels for June and July delivery. Despite these increases, buyers estimate tradeable prices to be slightly lower, reflecting cautious sentiment amid evolving market dynamics.
