European long steel prices remained largely stable in early July, but market sentiment continues to weaken due to subdued demand and the onset of the summer holiday season. Rebar prices in Northwest Europe were reported at €600–615 per tonne delivered in Benelux and €615–630 in Germany, depending on volume.
In Southern Europe, rebar offers were limited, with most buyers focusing on September delivery. Mills are preparing for maintenance shutdowns over the next four to five weeks, further dampening activity. Merchant bar and medium section prices showed little change, though some mills hinted at post-holiday price increases.
Carbon-accounted steel premiums were offered in the €20–40 per tonne range, but actual demand for green-certified long products remains thin. Platts assessed Northwest European rebar at €610 per tonne ex-works, down €10 on the week, while medium sections rose slightly to €775 per tonne delivered.
