Electrolux, the Swedish home appliance manufacturer, has announced a new sustainability goal to increase the share of recycled steel and plastic in its products to 35% by 2030. This target nearly doubles the weight of recycled materials compared to its previous goal and adds steel to the scope for the first time. Steel and plastic are Electrolux's two most-used materials by weight, with steel accounting for over 40% of all materials purchased by the company.
The initiative aligns with Electrolux's commitment to circularity and environmental sustainability. The company has signed an agreement with a European steel supplier to source steel produced using fossil-free electricity and green hydrogen, with deliveries expected by the end of 2026. This move underscores Electrolux's leadership in driving sustainable practices within the appliance industry.
