Egyptian and Chinese officials have engaged in discussions to establish an integrated industrial complex in the Sokhna area of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The talks involved Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, and Tian Haikui, Chairman of the Chinese steelmaker XinFeng. The proposed complex will cover 3.75 million square meters and include nine factories with a total investment of $1.65 billion over two phases within five years. The first phase will focus on producing hot rolled steel coils and automotive components, while the second phase will expand into aluminum and magnesium alloy products, among others.
