Brazil's iron ore exports rose by 8.8% year-on-year in January-July 2024, reaching 218.4 million tons, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
July alone saw a 24% increase compared to the previous year, totaling 39.3 million tons. The value of these exports climbed 13.2% to $18.3 billion. China remained the largest importer, accounting for 65% of the total, followed by Malaysia and Oman.
In 2023, Brazil's exports had already increased by 10% from the previous year, solidifying its position as the second-largest global exporter after Australia.
