Sea freight rates for Brazilian steel imports experienced a slight decline in September, according to the Brazilian foreign trade agency, COMEX. Rates for slabs were reported at $53/mt from Russia and $33/mt from Vietnam, while hot-rolled coil (HRC) rates from China ranged from $34/mt to $61/mt depending on the destination. Cold-rolled coil (CRC) rates varied from $34/mt to $57/mt, and rebar prices were noted at $30/mt from Peru and $40/mt from Egypt. The average freight rate decreased from $48/mt in August to $47/mt in September, likely reflecting negotiations made in July.
