Blastr Green Steel, a Norwegian developer of decarbonized steel, has received environmental approval for its planned low-emission steel plant in Inkoo, Finland. The project has successfully completed the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and is now moving to the permitting phase.
The plant, with an annual production capacity of 2.5 million metric tons, will utilize local raw materials and carbon-free energy to produce ultra-low-emission steel. This innovative approach aims to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions compared to traditional steel production methods. Instead of coal, the plant will use clean hydrogen in its production process, aligning with international climate goals.
The project is expected to bring substantial economic benefits to the Inkoo and Western Uusimaa regions, including job creation and increased investments. Blastr Green Steel's initiative represents a significant step toward a more sustainable steel industry, combining environmental responsibility with technological innovation.
