The European hot-rolled coil market continues to face downward pressure amid weak demand and cautious buyer sentiment. As of mid-June, prices in Northern Europe hovered around €590–600 per tonne ex-works, though some bids dipped as low as €550, which many consider unrealistic.
In Italy, domestic prices were slightly firmer at €580–585 per tonne ex-works, supported by limited supply from certain producers. However, trading activity remained muted, with buyers hesitant to restock ahead of the summer holiday period.
Import offers from Indonesia and India added further pressure, with Indonesian coil offered at €480 per tonne and Indian material as low as €520 per tonne CFR.
Market participants expect continued softness in pricing as uncertainty and seasonal slowdowns weigh on sentiment.
