Austria’s crude steel production rose to 690,137 tonnes in May 2025, marking an 11.6% increase from April and a 1.3% gain year-on-year. Despite this monthly growth, cumulative output for January–May reached 3.06 million tonnes—slightly below the 3.2 million tonnes recorded during the same period in 2024. Austria maintained its 23rd position in the global steel production rankings.
Meanwhile, EU-wide crude steel production in May fell by 3.1% year-on-year to 11.36 million tonnes, reflecting broader regional challenges.
