ASEAN Rebar and Wire Rod Markets Remain Sluggish Amid Uncertainty

The ASEAN region continues to see weak demand for imported rebar and wire rod, with buyers staying cautious amid market uncertainty. Offers for these products remain largely unchanged, and trading activity remains sparse due to upcoming public holidays.

Chinese mesh-grade Q195 wire rod for July shipment is being offered at $465-470 per tonne CFR Manila, with minimal transactions recorded. The SAE 1008/Q195 wire rod market also saw stable pricing at $460-465 per tonne CFR Manila. In Vietnam, suppliers invited bids for Chinese SAE 1008/Q195 wire rod at $455-456 per tonne CFR, slightly below the offered price of $457 per tonne CFR.

In Thailand, the highest bid for Chinese boron-added Q195 wire rod stood at $470 per tonne CFR for August shipment, against an offer of $476 per tonne CFR. Indonesia’s Dexin Steel lowered its September-shipment wire rod export prices by $10 per tonne to $505 per tonne FOB.

Singapore’s rebar market softened slightly, with Malaysian theoretical-weight rebar for July delivery offered at $460-465 per tonne DAP. Chinese rebar offers remained steady at $470-475 per tonne CFR Singapore, though some traders indicated suppliers might accept $465 per tonne CFR. Hong Kong’s rebar market also saw stable pricing at $460-465 per tonne CFR, with no deals reported.
