ArcelorMittal Poland’s steel plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza, formerly Huta Katowice, is in discussions with the Polish government to secure up to PLN 1 billion in funding for modernization. The proposed investment aims to upgrade one of the blast furnaces, ensuring continued steel production and job retention in the region.
Deputy Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty emphasized the importance of maintaining domestic steel production amid global tensions, arguing that reliance on imports from countries with lower environmental standards is not a viable alternative.
Industry analysts note that the modernization effort could strengthen Poland’s steel sector while aligning with broader sustainability goals.
