ArcelorMittal Poland has launched the Danieli RH2 rail head-hardening system at its DÄ…browa GĂłrnicza facility, marking a significant upgrade in its rail production capabilities. The system enables the production of premium-quality rails up to 128 meters long, with linear weights between 45 and 68 kg/m and hardness levels exceeding 400 HB.
Developed at the Danieli Research Center in Italy, the RH2 system uses a patented water-polymer immersion cooling method that ensures uniform mechanical properties along the entire rail length. It eliminates the need for air blowers and additional heating devices, reducing production costs by 45% and power consumption by 35% compared to conventional systems.
The installation includes a Danieli Automation control system for fully automated process settings and monitoring. With a productivity rate of 22.5 rails per hour, the plant now delivers head-hardened rails that meet the latest European and American standards, while also achieving lower carbon emissions and improved energy efficiency.
