According to the latest report by World Steel, crude steel production in Arab countries reached 3.531 million tons in February 2025, marking a 5.4% increase compared to February 2024. Egypt led the region with 893.6 thousand tons, reflecting a 6.4% increase, followed by Saudi Arabia with 812.8 thousand tons, despite a 6.3% decrease. Algeria came in third with 460 thousand tons, showing a significant 31.4% increase.
During January-February 2025, crude steel production in Arab countries increased by 1.5% to reach 7.1 million tons. The Gulf region contributed 48% of the total production, led by Saudi Arabia with 49%. North Africa accounted for 44% of the production, with Egypt contributing 57%, while the Eastern Mediterranean region produced 8%, spearheaded by Iraq with 88%.
