Alstom has partnered with Outokumpu to source Circle Green® stainless steel for its next-generation Metropolis metro cars. This material boasts a carbon footprint up to 93% lower than the global industry average and will be used for the outer layer of the vehicles.
The collaboration aligns with Alstom’s goal to reduce emissions from procured goods and services by 30% by 2030. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2026, marking Outokumpu’s largest mobility-sector contract to date.
