Algeria signed three agreements and contracts related to mining and mining projects in Gara Jbeilat (Tindouf), Thala Hamza Oued Amizour (Bejaia), and Bechar, with national companies and international partners from China and Turkey.
The first contract was between the National Iron and Steel Corporation "Feral" and the Chinese company "Sinosteel" for constructing the first iron ore pre-treatment unit at the Gara Jbeilat mine with a 4 million ton capacity.
The second agreement established a joint company between the Turkish "Tosyali" Corporation and "Feral" to produce iron ore concentrates in the Tomiyat region in Bashar, with an annual capacity of 1 million tons.
The third agreement involved the Algerian-Australian company "West Mediterranean Zinc" (WMA) and the Chinese "Sinosteel" to complete an underground mine for lead and zinc deposits in Oued Amizur, with an estimated annual capacity of 170,000 tons of zinc and 30,000 tons of lead.
These agreements aim to enhance the mining sector's role in Algeria's national economy, with the Mining Industrial Complex "SONARIM" expecting new projects to generate $5 billion in revenue by 2030.
