According to GMK Center, unfair competition is significantly impacting the global steel markets, according to the OECD Steel Committee's recent meeting. The committee expressed concerns over market distortions caused by surges in imports and unfair trade practices, which have led to a decline in global steel demand for three consecutive years. China’s net steel exports have reached nearly 100 million tons this year, exacerbating the situation due to substantial subsidies that distort competition. The committee called for enhanced cooperation among member states to combat these issues and develop tools to identify suspicious trade patterns and market-distorting subsidies.
