Nippon Steel has successfully launched a new high-speed roughing mill at its Kamaishi special steel plant in Japan. This tailor-made mill features shiftable stands and is designed for twist-free rolling of 130- to 168-mm billets at a capacity of 130 tons per hour. The upgrade enhances billet charging flexibility and efficiency, allowing the mill to roll larger billets compared to the previous maximum of 122 mm. The Kamaishi wirerod mill produces a variety of high-quality special steel wirerod grades, supported by advanced equipment including mono-groove stands and automated roll-changing systems supplied by Danieli.
