Global Steel Production Increased by 5.3% in October

In October 2024, global steel production rose by 5.3% compared to the previous month, reaching a total of 151.2 million tons. This represents a 0.4% increase from October 2023. The data, compiled by the World Steel Association, highlights the performance of 71 steel-producing countries.

China led the production with 81.9 million tons, marking a 2.9% year-over-year increase. India followed with 12.5 million tons, up by 1.7%. Other notable producers included Japan with 6.9 million tons, the USA with 6.6 million tons, and Russia with 5.6 million tons. Germany saw a significant increase of 14.7%, producing 3.2 million tons.

Despite the overall increase, some regions experienced declines. The CIS+Ukraine region saw a 12.2% year-over-year decrease, producing 6.7 million tons. However, Ukraine’s production slightly increased by 0.1% year-over-year to 603.8 thousand tons.

This growth in global steel production reflects the industry’s resilience and adaptability in the face of fluctuating market demands and economic challenges.
