In the first ten months of 2024, Ukraine’s scrap industry increased exports of ferrous scrap by 54.5% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching a total of 226.97 thousand tons. October shipments saw a slight decrease of 0.9% compared to September but were 55.4% higher than in October 2023, totaling 24.55 thousand tons.
The average monthly volume of scrap exports for January-October 2024 was 22.7 thousand tons, significantly higher than the 14.7 thousand tons in 2023 and 3.8 thousand tons in 2022. The majority of these exports went to Poland, which received 198.39 thousand tons, followed by Greece with 22.18 thousand tons and Germany with 5.8 thousand tons.
Revenue from these exports in October 2024 amounted to $7.16 million, a 6.6% decrease from the previous month but a 65% increase from October 2023. This growth highlights the increasing demand for Ukrainian scrap metal in international markets.
