India's Sandur Manganese & Iron Ore Limited (SMIOL) has acquired the remaining 20 percent equity stake in Arjas Steel Private Limited (ASPL), making it a wholly-owned subsidiary. This acquisition, announced on November 6, 2024, enhances SMIOL's position in the specialty steel sector, where ASPL ranks among the top five players, primarily serving the automotive industry. The deal also includes ASPL's subsidiary, Arjas Modern Steel Private Limited, which operates an electric arc-based integrated steel plant in Punjab. This strategic move aligns with SMIOL's goal to expand its footprint in the steel industry, complementing its existing operations in manganese and iron ore mining, power generation, and ferroalloy manufacturing.
