Domestic prices for European hot-rolled coil remained stable on September 12, with market activity muted as buyers remained cautious, anticipating further price decreases later in the year.
Northern Europe faced downward pressure due to worsening macroeconomic factors, while Southern Europe remained relatively stable. Many consumers held off on purchases, hoping for more favorable prices towards the end of the year.
Inventory levels stayed high, further dampening demand. Platts assessed Northwest European HRC at €565/mt ex-works Ruhr, and Southern European HRC at €570/mt ex-works Italy, both stable on the day.
Imported HRC prices also remained stable. Green steel prices fluctuated, struggling to attract demand, especially in the automotive industry.
