According to national customs data, Ukraine increased its exports of flat steel products in February compared to the previous month. 

The total volume of flat steel exports in February amounted to 136,930 tonnes, up 2% month-on-month and four times higher than February 2023. In monetary terms, flat steel exports increased by 6% month-on-month and 3.6 times year-on-year to $81 million. 

In the first two months of 2024, flat steel exports reached 217,250 tonnes, up 4.2 times year-on-year. Revenue from these exports rose 3.6 times year-on-year to $157.4 million. 

Exports of uncoated hot-rolled coil (HRC) in January-February reached 221,420 tonnes, up 3% for $123.4 million. In February alone, 110,920 tonnes were shipped, up 0.4% month-on-month, with revenue at $63.2 million, 5% higher. 

Cold-rolled coil (CRC) exports amounted to 18,840 tonnes in February, 1.7% more month-on-month, with revenue at $10.8 million, 3.6% lower. In January-February, CRC exports totaled 37,360 tonnes for $22 million. 

The largest consumers of Ukrainian HRC in February were Poland with a 39.3% share and Bulgaria with 25.8%. Poland (35%) and Italy (14.6%) together consumed about 50% of CRC. The main buyers of Ukrainian coated flats were Poland (79.6%) and Romania (15.5%). 

Exports of long steel products in February increased by 25% month-on-month and were 81% higher year-on-year at 53,990 tonnes. Revenue from long steel exports rose by 13.4% month-on-month and 50.8% year-on-year to $39.9 million. 

In the first two months of 2024, Ukraine exported 97,220 tonnes of long steel products, up 81.5% year-on-year. Revenue amounted to $75.19 million, up 54% year-on-year.
