European hot-rolled coil prices remained flat in early July, with mills offering aggressive discounts to counter cheap imports and fill order books. German suppliers quoted €560–570 per tonne delivered for August–September delivery, but actual deals were heard as low as €525 per tonne ex-works for large volumes. Some mills have reportedly closed order books until October after heavy sales.
In Italy, domestic HRC prices hovered around €520 per tonne, though bids dipped to €500 or lower. Mills are reluctant to go below €520–530 due to high scrap and electricity costs. Indonesian coil was booked at €450 per tonne CFR, with new bids emerging at €425–435. Turkish offers ranged from €480–500 CFR duty paid.
The influx of low-cost imports—especially from Indonesia, which is exempt from EU safeguards—is prompting large buyers to stock up ahead of CBAM’s January 2026 rollout. Smaller traders remain cautious due to handling risks. Secondary market prices for 4 mm HR sheet also fell to €630–650 per tonne CPT, down from late June levels.
