Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has officially commissioned its first galvanizing line at its integrated steel facility in Angul, Odisha. This milestone is part of the company’s broader $400 million investment plan aimed at scaling up its downstream value-added production capabilities.
The newly operational line will produce both galvanised and galvalume steel products under the Jindal Panther Galvanised and Zinkalume brands. The Jindal Panther range includes full hard, soft, and skin-passed galvanised steel used in applications such as air conditioners, white goods, electrical panels, ducting, coolers, and vehicle bodies. These products also serve as base material for pre-painted galvanised iron (PPGI).
Zinkalume-branded galvalume products, which feature an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy coating, are designed for high corrosion resistance and thermal durability. These are suited for use in solar structures, refrigerator backs, fuel tanks, and pre-painted galvalume (PPGL) products.
In addition, the galvanizing line enables the production of thinner hot rolled galvanised coils, supporting key sectors like tube manufacturing, tank farms, silos, and pre-engineered buildings. The facility will also supply high-strength galvanised steel for automotive underbody components, reinforcing JSPL’s positioning in value-added steel segments.
