Hot-rolled coil prices across Europe fell further in late June, driven by subdued demand and aggressive import competition.
In Northern Europe, the daily HRC index dropped to €575.71 per tonne ex-works on June 24, down from €580.23 the previous day. Workable prices were mostly in the €570–590 range, though one supplier was reportedly willing to accept €560.
In Italy, the index slipped to €548.33 per tonne ex-works. Most recent deals were around €550, with some sellers indicating €540 as the minimum workable level.
Market dynamics have shifted, with traditional offer-based negotiations giving way to buyer-led pricing. Sellers are increasingly waiting for customer bids before attempting to raise prices.
Import offers remained highly competitive:
- Indonesia: €470–480 per tonne ex-works
- Turkey: €530 per tonne CFR duty paid, with potential for €500–510 on large orders
