ArcelorMittal has signed a deal to sell its Bosnian operations—including the Zenica integrated steel plant and the Prijedor iron ore mine—to the Pavgord Group. The decision follows a strategic review and comes after years of investment aimed at modernizing the facilities and reducing emissions.
Despite these efforts, production at Zenica dropped from 600,000 tonnes in 2023 to 500,000 tonnes in 2024, prompting the company to conclude that a sale would better serve the business and its workforce.
The transaction, announced on June 20, 2025, is expected to close in Q3 2025, pending regulatory approval. All employees will be transferred to the new owner, and ArcelorMittal anticipates a non-cash loss of approximately $200 million from the deal.
