Ukraine's steel industry saw an 11.8% year-on-year decline in rolled steel production in May 2025, with output totaling 524.9 thousand tons. Compared to April, production fell by 4%, reflecting ongoing challenges in the sector.
Pig iron production also dropped by 2.3% month-on-month and 1.3% year-on-year, signaling broader difficulties for Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises.
Industry analysts attribute the decline to market instability and reduced export opportunities, as global steel demand remains uncertain.
