Austria’s crude steel production saw a decrease in recent months, reflecting broader challenges in the European steel sector. In December 2024, output fell by 5.9% year-on-year to 559,000 tonnes, while total production for the year remained stable at 7.13 million tonnes.
Despite the decline, Austria maintained its position as the 23rd-largest steel producer globally. Industry analysts attribute the drop to weaker demand and adjustments in production strategies.
