Ukrainian Railways has canceled all auctions for the sale of ferrous scrap that were announced on May 16, 2025. The auctions, which aimed to sell 12,000 tons of raw materials valued at UAH 87.3 million, were halted due to a lack of bidders.
Despite initial interest from several companies, the auctions failed to attract sufficient participation, leading to their cancellation. The scrap lots included railway wheelset axles, railcar parts, worn brakes, and general scrap, with prices ranging from 5.32 thousand UAH per ton to 7.6 thousand UAH per ton.
Ukrainian Railways had previously suspended domestic scrap sales in September 2023, citing regulatory challenges. Industry analysts note that the company’s withdrawal from the scrap market could impact steel production, as domestic metallurgists rely on these raw materials.
