Italian plate prices are experiencing a decline due to increased pressure from low-priced imports and sluggish demand. Recent assessments show that prices for S235 grade plates have fallen to €655 per tonne ex-works, while S275 grade plates are being transacted at €730-740 per tonne.
The influx of cheaper imported materials, particularly from Asia, is forcing local rerollers to adjust their prices downward. This trend is further compounded by the absence of large buyers and the overall quiet market conditions, making it challenging for mills to maintain higher price levels.
